RUSSIAN ORTHODOX ST. EUGENIA OF ROME ICON PAINTING, polychrome-painted surface with gold or silver gilt background on wood board, central scene featuring veneration of three female saints/figures with the largest probably being Saint Eugenia of Rome, flanked by numerous other saints/patriarchs and with Christ and two winged angels pictured floating above the scene with blue cloud border; hand-painted red and black Cyrillic writing throughout. Probably Russian. 19th century. 12 1/4" x 14 1/4" OA.

Condition Report: Good overall condition, heavy staining or discoloration to the painted surface and age-related craquelure throughout, thick yellowed coating/accumulation to surface, needs cleaning, and there may be some inpainted restoration obscured by this old varnish coating. Minor chipping to edges. Board drilled verso with modern wall-hanging hook.
