RUSSIAN SILVER ENAMEL EMMANUEL ICON BY OVCHINNIKOV

A fine Russian gilt silver pendant with a polychrome cloisonne Orthodox icon of Savior Emmanuel. Savior Emmanuel, Emmanuel, God with us, is an iconographic type representing Christ in adolescence. The icon is enframed with intricate filigree ornaments. An embossed image of Jesus Christ garnishes the fitting ring. Hallmarked with an 84 silver standard, a kokoshnik mark and features the makers mark PO for Pavel Ovchinnikov on the rim of the piece. Pavel Ovchinnikov was a Russian jewelry manufacturer and supplier of the Imperial court in the late 19th - early 20th century.
