A fine quality Russian gilt silver egg case embellished with highly detailed polychrome foliage, floral and scrollwork patterns made in the Plique a Jour and cloisonne enamel technique. Set with two amber cabochon cut gemstones to the top and bottom. Gold washed inside. Hallmarked with an 84 Russian Imperial silver standard, a Cyrillic makers mark and other Russian hallmarks. Plique-a-jour is a technique, in which the enamel is applied to the membranes in a thin layer, creating a luminous effect.
