Provenance: Recorded in Ruth Henshaw Bascom's diary on February 13, 1834; by descent through the family of the sitter, Thomas Burr; a Private Collection in Pennsylvania; Property of a descendant of the artist.

Other Notes: In her diary, from the collection of the American Antiquarian Society, Worcester, Massachusetts, Bascom recalls the visit: On February 13, 1834, a day of 20 degree temperature, "... Thos. Cushing Burr came early to be sketched...".
