- Oil on canvas. A great painter of light and the landscape of Catalonia, Rafael Durán manages with intense blues and whites to reflect the landscape of Alt Empordà and the surroundings of the unique town of Cadaqués as it was in the mid-sixties, before the tourism made a dent in its original urban planning and its spontaneous cubic volumes. With a clean look, still a geographer and botanist of the Catalan country, the artist captures each color, the aroma of each plant, the dry and dull tones that summer produces on earth as in the sky. This painting contains in two dimensions the immensity of a summer morning facing the Mediterranean. In addition, he took part in an exhibition dedicated to the artist in 1972 in the prestigious Sala Parés, an ancient and accredited agency for the purchase and sale of works of art in Barcelona, where all the great names in painting in the region have passed.
