Raingo Freres Monumental Gilt Bronze Chariot Clock

Raingo Freres (French, founded 1823); Zacharie Joseph Raingo (French/Belgium, 1775-1847). A Napoleon III "Le Chariot De L'Amour" circa 1889. An exceptional large scale gilded bronze chariot form mantel clock with a white enamel dial with black roman numerals mounted to one of the chariot wheels with four putti figures and a pair of doves mounted to the clock. Signed to back of clock base "Raingo Fer", and to the movement "Raingo Feres, Paris" with an impressed medallion. Approx: h. 32.75", w. 24.5", d. 14.5". Note: A similar example was sold at Sotheby's New York in 2013 for $25,000. Raingo Freres known for his incredible astronomical clocks including a planetary pendulum clock made in 1824 purchased by George IV of England and now resides at Windsor Castle as part of the permanent Royal Collection. Provenance: From a Private Estate in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, Georgia.
Condition Report: Clock shows wear commensurate with age and use, including minor gilt loss and loose but still stable elements, screw securing central torch is broken. Note: Original key is present; pendulum is not.
