Raphael (1483-1520). Madonna Jardinie - La Sainte Vierge. Antique engraving on laid paper after the original by master etcher/engraver Jacques Chereau le jeune, (French, 1688-1776). Year: 1729 - 1740. Signed in the plate. Image Size 10 1/2 x 16 1/4 inches. Framed dimensions approximately 22 x 27 inches. This piece has been professionally matted and framed using all new materials. Aditional Notes: Virgin with Child and the infant Baptist in a pastoral landscape, traditionally known as 'la Belle Jardiniere'; the Virgin sits at centre, supporting the Christ child who stands next to her, and holding a book in her lap; St John the Baptist kneels at the Virgin's feet.
