After RAPHAEL Abraham and the angels. After 1615 Drawing, pen and black ink, brown wash, heightened with white, 19 x 23,5 cm, laid paper (white oxidated at places, minor dampstain al lower left). Under original Dutch frame. Abraham kneeling before the three angels. After Raphael's painting in the Vatican Loggias. Possibly after the engraving by Orazzio Borgianni, dated 1615. Sold in Venice in 1796 as an original drawing by Raphael, as is explained in a ms. text on the verso. Ref. Bartsch XVII.317.14. Prov. Collection Montalebert, Merode (Ms. note in graphite, on verso).
