Raquel Welch | Annotated "Kansas City Bomber" Script

[ translate ]

An original script for the action drama Kansas City Bomber (MGM, 1972) that's been annotated in pencil by its star Raquel Welch. The 105-page script is printed on yellow paper and is braketed in a goldenrod front and back paper cover. The cover page reads in part "The Kansas City Bomber / Screenplay by Thomas Rickman / From an Original Idea by Barry Sandler / March 20, 1972 / (Changes to follow)." The screenplay would undergo several revisions and the title would be slightly amended.

Welch did many of her own stunts in Kansas City Bomber, which chronicles a single mother (Jodie Foster makes an early screen appearance as the daughter of Welch's character), who becomes a tough roller derby queen. The film made a profit and earned many positive reviews for Welch, including one from the Los Angeles Times which noted the movie "marks Raquel Welch's coming of age as an actress and is a personal triumph for her..."
