[ translate ]

This Mauser 33/40 was made at the Waffenwerke Brunn (BRNO) in Czechoslovakia in 1941 and is chambered in 8x57 mm Mauser. This unique rifle was based off of the VZ.33 and was the standard issued rifle for the German Mountain Troops (Gebirgstruppen). In 1941 the BRNO factory changed the factory code on the receiver from 945 to "dot" with the 1940 production with the 945 code and the majority of 1941 receivers with the "dot" code. It is unknown why most 945 code 1941 receivers were not serialized, although there are many theories that require more research. This 33/40 rifle features an inverted V front sight with sight hood fitted to a sleeve that fits to the end of the barrel and an adjustable rear sight on a 19 1/2" barrel. The stock is fitted with a left side sling mount on the lower band and stock. The receiver is marked on top with "945 1941" and G 33/40 on the left. The stock is fitted with the bolt disassembly disc and metal butt plate with additional protective plate on the left and bottom. Screws are absent from the side plate and butt plate. The barrel bands and receiver are marked with "WaA63" Waffenampts, "63" Waffenampts on the bolt handle and magazine baseplate, and "607" Waffenampts on the trigger guard, extractor collar, and bolt release. The bolt is marked with a "01" under the handle and the knob is hollowed out with a lightning cut. LOP: 13 1/4". CALIBER/GA: 8x57. S/N: NSN. FFL: Curio & Relic.

Condition
Bore is shiny with visible rifling. Mechanics are smooth. Barrel and extractor have turned to a brown/plumy patina. Disassembly disc, side plate and butt plate have visible oxidation and pitting.
