Rare 19th Century costume plates, double-page book plate, hand-colored engravings from a German book, "Zur Geschichte Der Costume". Depicts Japanese in modern times, before the restoration in 1868. Soldiers, working class men, girls playing music & girls & women in traditional dress. 13 1/4" X 17". * handwriting in pencil with several illustrations to translate the German to English.
