Nice stone for mounting into a pendant. * Virgin Valley Nevada Opal material is almost all wood that has been replaced by opal. Most contain a high percentage of water in their structure, & they often crack or craze when dried, making this kind of opal quite rare in dry stable form. * This stone has been stabilized with resin to strengthen the wood, but the resin does not affect the opal.
