Rare! A Colorful Map of the Holy Land in Latin, 1759, as it is in the Bible– from "The Well of the Tablets", by Jacob Oispitz – Vienna, 1759 – according to a map of the Land of Israel by Tobias Conrad Lotter (based on Nicholas Sanson's map) "Map of the Holy Land as it is in the Bible" More The map of the Land of Israel, on both sides of the Jordan, is divided into tribal lands. The coastline stretches between Sidon in the north and Egypt in the south. On the upper left side of the map is an ornate cartouche. On one side stands Joshua, holding the flag of the tribes in one hand and pointing with the other towards the sun, above which is the verse "The sun in Givon Dom." Above the cartouche are illustrations of the pillars of fire and cloud that accompanied and guided the Israelites on their journeys in the desert.
