Rare AOR 2.180 Free Store Benefit Poster
This rare poster was used for a June 19, 1968 Grateful Dead show that was to benefit Blackman’s Free Store in San Francisco. Blackman’s Free Store was started by Roy Ballard in the spring of 1967 on McAllister Street in the Fillmore district. The Free Store was originally a Diggers concept and they opened the first one on Cole Street in 1966. Everything in the store was free and it existed on contributions and benefits such as the one advertised on this poster. The last one of these we offered was in February 2020, where a CGC-certified 9.8 example brought $3,220. While we don’t expect this come near that mark, this is only the third Free Store Benefit poster we have had in our auctions.
Medium: A Buyers Premium of 15% will be added to the hammer price of all lots.
