Rare American Folk Art Carved & Painted Children's Carousel Ride Figure

An exceptional 19th century American Folk Art children's carousel ride figure, modeled in the expressive form of a whimsical barnyard fowl or waterfowl. The neck is fitted with its authentic, early iron handlebar designed to give the young rider a secure grip. The entire figure is structurally integrated into a heavy, rectangular multi tiered wooden base decorated with charming hand painted webbed feet stretching across a green field. A notable vertical iron mechanism bracket remains attached near the bird's flank, which secured the figure to the roundabout's rotating platform rod. Bird measures 26.5 inches high, 36 inches x 6 inches. Overall good condition, some paint flaking to be expected with age. Please see photos.
