was a Roman empress and the wife of the Roman emperor Antoninus Pius.
The emperor Marcus Aurelius was her nephew and later became her adopted daughter, along with the emperor Lucius Verus.
She died early in the leadership of Antoninus Pius, but continued to be prominently commemorated as a diva, who after her death played a prominent symbolic role during his reign.
Faustina was the only known daughter of the consul and prefect Marcus Annius Verus and Rupelia Faustina.
Her brothers were the consul Marcus Ennius Livus and the praetor Marcus Ennius Verus.
Her aunts on her mother's side were the Roman empress Vivia Sabina and Matidia Minor.
Her paternal grandmother was named Marcus Ennius Verus, like her father, while her maternal grandparents were the specific consul Lucius Scribonius Libo Rupilius Progi Bonus and perhaps Vitalia.
Faustina was born and raised in Rome.
While a private citizen, she married Antoninus Pius between 110 and 115 AD.
Faustina gave birth to four children with Pius: two sons and two daughters.
