AN ANTIQUE AKAN GOLD DUST CASKET OR CONTAINER, Ashanti, Ghana, probably 19th century - possibly earlier, Kuduo, cast brass Ashanti. A relatively rare example of a cast brass storage casket, intended to hold valuables including gold dust which, together with slaves, formed the bedrock of the nation's wealth and acted as the main medium of exchange.
