Rare Branded V.O.C. Candlestick - Golden Age - Bronze - 17th century

[ translate ]

An opportunity for your V. O. C. collection! It is an authentic bronze candlestick from circa 1650 (golden age) . Kandelaren like these were made together with similar pieces mostly in colonies of the Netherlands (such as Batavia) because this was cheaper. They were then taken to Amsterdam, Middelburg or Delft (Here were the V. O. C. rooms, sometimes this is also indicated on the object with an A, M or D) . The V. O. C. logo that was hammered in the foot was later applied by a worker. This is because it is most likely a looted candlestick. Back then, it was easier to make it your own in this way than to completely melt the candlestick. This can also be seen with cannons and other objects from this time. We can never say for sure that V. O. C. was put in at the time, or later, we were not there. Provenance: obtained from a private collection in Amsterdam. Dimensions: height 23 cm x width 11 cm x depth 11cm Your purchase will be carefully packed and sent by registered mail.
