Rare Chippendale Carved Walnut Case Clock
case attributed to Adam Ault (1768-1848), works possibly by George Hoff Sr. (1733-1816)
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Circa 1790

Back of pendulum bob inscribed Peter Little. The eight-day works are quarter-chiming. Works originated from an earlier clock but the current case appears to have been made for them.
Height 109 1/2 in. by Width 25 1/2 in. by Depth 13 in.

Condition Report:
Secondary wood: yellow pine. Two wafers on the bonnet plinths are replaced. Containing an oversized painted dial, which was examined under UV light and found to be in very good condition with minor scattered flaking. The works appear to be original, but the shin blocks appear to be replaced; and thus, we cannot affirm with 100% accuracy that the works are indeed original. The case with an abrasion to the front proper left lower panel. The back wafers on feet are replaced. Retaining a period pendulum.
