Rare Custom Gorham 14k YG Bishops' Pectoral Cross

Rare Gorham 14k Bishops' Pectoral Cross having a centralized round brilliant cut diamond along with four amethyst cabochons and Celtic designs. This cross features a secret compartment to the backside, possibly to carry a shard of bone. This was a custom order likely in first quarter 20th century. This particular Pectoral cross was designed for a Bishop. As noted on page N61 from Gorham 1914 catalog showing special order Bishops' pectoral crosses 'As Bishops' Pectoral Crosses require a high order of artistic treatment, and as they are always made for the special occasions for which they are wanted, we respectfully solicit the privilege of submitting designs and estimates'. This cross measures approx. 4.32 inches in height (including bail and screw release at bottom), 2.67 inches wide and 0.20 inches in depth and 75 grams in weight. The cross is marked on the side with somewhat difficult Gorham mark, 14K and order number XF01.
