Rare Hard Rubber Gayle Casting Reel
With black hard rubber side plates, this "Geo. W. Gayle & Son - Frankfort, KY - No. 3" stamped reel is serial numbered 104 on the underside of the nickel silver foot. With a 2" diameter and a 1 1/2" wide spool, nickel silver pillars, switches, and counter-balance handle, this attractive reel is remarkably blemish free, adding to the already pleasing aesthetics of this seldom offered model, in VG condition due to a broken internal click spring (the spring will be shipped to potentially be used as a template to fabricate another) and one foot end neatly shaped. Hard rubber Gayle reels are among the most difficult to add to a Kentucky reel collection.
