LOT 145

Rare Hardy "The Barton" Dry Fly Reel

[ translate ]

A rare "natural finish" example, made without the leaded finish found on most of the 109 reels produced from 1934 to 1939 (production numbers as published in John Drewett's book Hardy Brothers - The Masters, The Men and Their Reels). Clearly marked on the tail plate of this 3 1/4" diameter frame reel "The Barton Dry Fly Reel", an Ex condition example with original off-set, ribbed brass foot, four-screw line guide attached to the frame (right hand-wind only) and three-screw aluminum spool latch. Another detail of the Barton reels is the reverse taper grasp, original on this example as well. Finished with a nickel silver tension screw on the rim, a fine reel for even an advanced Hardy collection.
