Rare Islamic signed gilt silver Jambiya - 19th century
the hilt of the dagger is crafted from bone mounted with silver adorned with gilt and niello. finely engraved floral work. The sheath of the jambiyah is crafted from heavy silver work. Very finely carved and engraved to bring out the floral work in high relief. niello medallions make their way down the centre of the sheath. fine niello work throughout the whole sheath and hilt. The double-edged blade is finely crafted from steel. A faded artisan signature on one of the medallions. Signed on the upper part of the sheath as well.
