Rare Obsolete Calibre WW1 German 1918 Mauser Anti-Tank (Tankgewehr) Rifle
Rare Obsolete Calibre WW1 German 1918 Mauser Anti-Tank (Tankgewehr) Rifle, superb untouched example of an original German anti-tank rifle which was produced by Mauser in 1918. 13.2mm bolt action rifle with 40 inch barrel and raised fore sight. Barrel band with attachment for the bipod. Original steel bipod which retains much of the original finish. The woodwork is complete and original to the rifle. Area of battle damage to the woodwork near the butt and also another section to the underside. The barrel and metal work on the rifle is heavily pitted and worn which has obscured any of the Mauser markings. A superb untouched example of an incredibly rare item of WW1 German weaponry. The Tankgewehr was first produced in May 1918 and were quickly put into front line service, with the German’s creating special units of anti-tank troops. It is believed that only 14,700 rifles were produced before the armistice took place in November 1918. Please note we are not able to offer in house post and packing on this lot. Only available to bidders in the UK or international bidders who can collect from our UK office.
