Rare Pycnodont Fossil Fish - Paleobalistum goedeli - 24.5×22×2 cm

Paleobalistum is known only in fossil state. They first appeared in Triassic and died out, for the latest of them, in the Upper Eocene, and they peaked in the Jurassic. They are mainly sea fish even if some have lived, if not in freshwater, at least in brackish water. Recent relatives : They appeared in the Triassic (230 M y) and died out in the Eocene (50 M y) . Size of the specimen: 16 cm. Please note that fossils are nearly always found by splitting vast amount of rocks. This means that most fossils will be glued in some place, most will have a small part chipped away. Professional preparation ensures, that fossils are preserved in a state as close to original as possible. We will deliver every fossil with a Certificate of Authenticity. The fossil will be shipped insured and with tracking number via Colissimo from France. It can of course be collected if preferred.
