Rare Siddur For Shabbat and Holidays. Personal Copy of The Chida, with his Signature. Avignon 1767
The title page features a personal dedication, penned in the saintly handwriting of The Chida, Rabbi Chaim Yosef David Azulai:
“Gift from the beloved wealthy man, paragon of kindness knb”r Shmuel ben Yeshaya Bederbidush (?) yz”v of the holy community of Cavallion…May Hashem pay him his reward ky”r. Ne’um HaChida”. Alongside the dedication, The Chida wrote the date: 4 Av 5537 and signed: "Chida"
In the Chida's book 'Ma'agal Tov' about his travels in different countries of the world, he says that on the date shown in the siddur he visited the man mentioned above, and received several gifts from him! If so, this great discovery is one of those very gifts that he mentions!
