Rare Syro-Hittite Pottery Firing Stand / Kiln Spur

Ancient Near East, Syro-Hittite, ca. 2000 to 1500 BCE. A ceramic tripod firing stand (or kiln spur) used for separating and protecting individual pottery items during the firing process. The extended arms have a small nub on each end in order to raise the vessels off of the kiln's surface. Finished Syro-Hittite ceramic vessels often have the three imprinted marks on their bases from resting on examples like this. Size: 3.125" H (7.9 cm).
