Rare Thonet N.29 chair, period 1880, model used in "Les Charmettes Hotel" in Barbizon - Michael Thonet - Chair - Beech

Rare Thonet N. 29 chair, made around 1880, this model was used in the "Les Charmettes Hotel" in Barbizon (France) .

The 29 model is highly sought after and appreciated for its original design by Thonet collectors, in fact no chairs of this model have survived, especially in good condition.
The straw of the seat is solid and under the seat bears a letter B imprinted on the wood (certainly referring to the city of the factory where it was produced) , the Thonet brand imprinted and the type 2 paper label.

The Thonet 29 were exported from Austria up to France, Germany and other countries as well as Spain.
In France this model was highly appreciated such as by the Les Charmettes hotel in Barbizon or by some painters such as: Edouard Vuillard, Maurice Utrillo, Suzanne Valadon, Toulouse Lautrec, Pablo Picasso and others.
