BEAUTIFUL & RARE GOMA MASK
Beautiful large polychrome mask which is reminiscent of the Butende initiation masks of the Bembe . Thus, the eyes are in the center of immense orbits whitened with kaolin, the decorations in the form of friezes of triangles are also present. For a similar mask, see Marc Leo Felix, 1987
The Goma are few in number, their population was estimated at 5,000 people in 1987, they live in eastern Congo, a little south of the Bembe, to whom they are culturally very close, along Lake Tanganyika,
