Vida de Lazarillo de Tormes, or The Life of Lazarillo de Tormes is a Spanish novel first published in the mid 16th century. It was published anonymously, and the author remains unknown and debated by scholars. The book was written from the first person and is considered the first picaresque novel. Due to its criticism it was banned during the Spanish Inquisition.
