Rare example of a dance ankle bracelet for the ceremonies of the Ogboni Society of Nigeria. Made of copper metal, the four lobes contain bells for percussion. Two of the lobes are decorated with openwork triangular shapes and the other two with faces with prominent eyes, nose, mouth and forehead. It is mainly used for the King's enthronement ritual and his funeral. Can also be used in ceremonies for certain chiefs. The Brooklyn Museum preserves several of them, one of which is very similar at 75.151.3.
