Rare, roman italic banded agate intaglio. Male character standing still; naked, helmeted, flanked by two horses (the protomes). Unusual and well arranged subject, ascribable to an allegory of the Dioscuri (for the compositional structure see Denarius of L. Memmius). Presence of globular working technique. Light wear marks. Very precious and bright type of agate. 1st century B.C.
