Born into a wealthy family, Raymond Thibesart was born in Troyes (France) on 2 May 1874. Soon after, his parents moved their residence to the city of Enghien, in the immediate vicinity of Paris. It was there that the Thibesarts met the Boggio, a nice and large Venezuelan family who had just arrived in France. Very gifted in drawing, Thibesart admired Emile Boggio, 17 years his senior, who gave him his first lessons at the age of 11. Emile Boggio, the great master of Venezuelan Impressionism*, became Thibesart's first art master.
