Author:
Title: Map of Richmond City Center
Place Published: No place
Publisher:
Date Published: c.1905
Description:

Blue line map, with hand-coloring. 64.3x98 cm (25¼x38½"); backed with linen.

Cadastral map of Richmond, California, in western Contra Costa County, showing real estate offerings, with some rather crudely colored in, evidently to indicate being sold. The city was incorporated in 1905, and this map seems to have made about that time - some of the street names are changed in manuscript, Grant Avenue to McBryde Avenue, Leviston Avenue to Garvin Avenue, etc. Features listed include the presence of "Paved Streets; Sewer System; Water Mains in Every Street; Cement Sidwalks; Curbes and Gutters of Concrete..." The pencil signature of Gelenn B. Woodruff is on the back of the map, visible through a square cut out of the linen backing. He was an engineer of design on San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. No copies of this map are listed in OCLC/WorldCat.
Condition Report: Some aging and wear, soiling, overall very good.
