MVT: is running at the time of cataloguing but its timekeeping and repeating activation are not accurate.
CASE: in good condition consistent with age of the piece. It presents surface wear throughout including scratching, some dinging and scuffing. Rust to the pusher and winding key. The coat of arms presents some wear and is no longer crispy.
DIAL: in good overall condition consistent with age and presenting signs of wear and scratching and blemishes throughout
Catalogue Note:
Initially working in Greek Street, Soho, Louis Recordon (active 1778-1824) succeeded to Josiah Emery's establishment in 1797 at 33 Cockspur Street, Charing Cross. A recognised watchmaker, Recrdon also acted as Bregeut's agent in London.
The present lot presents London hallmarks for the year 1807.
Provenance:
Henry William Paget, later, 1st Marquess of Anglesey (1768–1854), styled Lord Paget between 1784 and 1812. Possibly presented to Lord Paget to commemorate his promotion to lieutenant-general in April 1808.
