Red Lacquered Kamakura-Bori Desk & Chair, Japanese

Japanese, early 20th century. Exuberantly carved, red lacquered desk in two parts, the upper section with phoenix crest and dragons, with three doors; the desk with meandering detail framing a black writing surface, four drawers framing a secondaryphoenix and rising on figural cabriolet legs, together with a carved Meiji era chair. Unmarked. Approx. of the desk h. 56", w. 43.5", d. 28.25".
Condition Report: Some fading and wear to lacquer commensurate with age and use.
