Red agate "Dzi" bead, Liao dynasty
A natural agate bead in a vibrant red colour with translucent honey-coloured areas. The piece has a spindle-shaped form with exceptional concentric banding that forms a central ‘eye’ in shades of pearl and deep orange. The surface displays a high-quality vitreous polish and natural wear from ageing. Liao Dynasty (916–1125) or later.
