These hand-carved mahogany and copper (brass) angel fish and merlin fish were sculpted by renowned artist Frederick Cooper.
This is an example of beautiful and well-crafted American folk art from the 1970s.
The fish are mounted on a copper pole with a rectangular mahogany base.

The sunfish belongs to the cichlids. It has a high back, is about 10 to 15 centimeters long and 18 to 25 centimeters high. The sunfish is not a fast swimmer. It does not like to be in open water, but prefers to be carried along by currents through reeds and masses of plants.

The marlin or black marlin is a ray-finned fish from the sailfish family and therefore belongs to the perch order.
