This chair was one of the original furnishings in Comme des Garcons' flagship store on Wooster street in New York. It was acquired by the present owner in the late 1990s as the store transitioned to its current location in Chelsea. Kawakubo designed furniture exclusively for the Comme des Garcons stores from 1983 to the early 1990s. They were produced in limited quantities and often as unique works.
