Relief, Head of Saint John the Baptist - Medieval - Alabaster - Late 15th century
A very rare alabaster relief depicting the head of Saint John the Baptist on a plate, flanked by Saint Peter and Thomas a Becket. Christ appears at the bottom as the Man of Sorrows, rising from his tomb. At the top, two angels are shown carrying the Saint's soul away in a napkin Alabaster with traces of gilding. Nottingham. Late 15th century.
