Relief, Last Supper, second half of the 17th century - 6.5 cm - Bronze

Last Supper cast in bronze. Probably Flemish and made in the second half of the 17th century.

The twelf apostels are with Jezus at the table of the last Supper. The composition is similar to compositions on paintings of Antwerp painters like P. P. Rubens and Arthus Wolffaerts executed around 1640.

In the midst on the table the Pascha lamb. The positionb of the beloved disciple Saint John is striking - he is almost on the lap of Jesus.

Casting of good quality ( look at the hair of the apostles)

In the right and top left two closed holes once intended to hang the casting. (see photographs)

Dimensions: 6,5 xd 15 x 0,4 cm.

Dimensions with black wooden frame of later date (19th century) : 40 x 27,5 x 4 cm.
