Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn 1606 - 1669- Etching EPHRAIM BONUS, JEWISH PHYSICIAN
A rare etching by Rembrandt of the well known Jewish Physician Ephraim Bonus.
This is the only etching that Rembrandt based off of one of his oil paintings.
Ephraim Bonus was a prominent Portuguese Jewish Physician who supported a printing press owned by the artists neighbor.
The etching is in overall good condition with some fraying of the paper near the Physicians hat some stains to the paper. small incision on the right corner several other minor flaws.
On the back there is writing in pencil from a later date.
dimension 16 3/4* 22cm
*attached with an early( perhaps from the 80's?) evaluation from Sotheby's
*attached with an affidavit where a Mr. Farkas in swearing in front of a lawyer that he bought this original from an antique shop in 1970.
