A very fine impression of the scarce First State with burr on and beneath Tobias' elbow, fine inky plate tone and fine wiping scratches in the floor covering. The trace of sulphur clearly visible in the white space between door and platemark on the left of the sheet. With a small margin of up to 6 mm around the edge of the plate. The Book of Tobit describes the fate of Tobit's family in the style of the patriarchal narratives of Genesis. It does not originate from the Bible, but was listed in the Luther Bible among the Apocrypha, which enjoyed great popularity in the 17th century and led to numerous painted or graphic depictions. The plate was lost early on, there are no late prints. - A tiny repair to the upper left, next to the door. In very good condition. Rarely this beautiful!

Prachtvoller, kräftiger und fein zeichnender Lebzeitenabzug mit Grat an und unter Tobias' Ellbogen, schönem Plattenton und feinen Wischkritzeln im Bodenbelag. Die Schwefelspur, die sich links im Blatt im weißen Raum zwischen Türe und Plattenrand hinzieht, noch gut sichtbar. Mit einem bis zu 6 mm breiten Rändchen um die Plattenkante. Das Buch Tobit beschreibt im Stil der Patriarchenerzählungen der Genesis das Schicksal der Familie des Tobit. Es entstammt nicht der Bibel, wurde aber in der Lutherbibel unter den Apokryphen aufgeführt, die sich gerade im 17. Jahrhundert einer großen Beliebtheit erfreuten und zu zahlreichen gemalten oder grafischen Darstellungen führten. Die Platte ist früh verloren gegangen, es gibt keine Spätdrucke. – Eine winzige Ausbesserung oben links, neben der Türe. In sehr gutem Zustand. Selten so schön!
