Renaissance crucifix clock
RENAISSANCE CRUCIFIX CLOCK MADE OF GILT AND SILVER-PLATED BRONZE, BRASS AND GLASS.

Date: 2nd half of the 17th century.
Maker/Designer: Georg Schulz.
Technique: Gilt and partially silver-plated bronze, steel, brass and glass.
Description: Hexagonal plinth on ornament-decorated feet on the corners, the side panels glassed. On
top a cross with the Corpus Christi as well as Mary and John as auxiliary figures. As the
upper finish of the cross, rotatable globe with equatorially rotating hour display. Below
a flying angel with immovable clock hand. Day clock movement with verge escapement. The
movement with chain and fuse, the striking mechanism with fixed spring barrel and
revolving spring ring, alarm.
Measurement: Height 33cm.
Mark: Signed on the plate.
