Renault - 5 1.4 GT Turbo - 1986

The Renault 5 is a car model by the French manufacturer Renault and was launched on 28 January 1972. The Renault 5 was sold until 1996, 7. 3 million units were sold. The first generation Renault 5 was launched in 1972 with an advertising campaign using the text (in Dutch) : "Bonjour, I am the Renault 5, I am also called a Supercar! " Among other things, the design, protective plates made of reinforced polyester and a fifth door made the new Renault a car that could be used both in the city and on motorways. The 5 was very similar to the Renault 4 under the bonnet, with front-wheel drive, torsion suspension, gearbox (the first Renault 5s had the gearstick in the dashboard just like the R4s, later versions had it in the floor) , the 850cc engine fitted lengthways also came from the Renault 4. Larger engines, up to 1400cc, were also available and were sourced from the Renault 8, the Renault 12 and the Renault 18. The car was widely sold globally and more versions of the car became available. There was also a rally version of the Renault 5 with a mid-engine, the Renault 5 Turbo. This should not be confused with the Renault 5 GT Turbo, which had the engine (like all other Renault 5s) in the front. In the days before the Paris Motor Show in September 1984, a large number of billboards in France had a drawing of the first generation Renault 5 ‘saying goodbye’ to this cruel world. Its successor, the generation 2, the Super5 or the Supercinq, looked quite similar to its predecessor, but was renewed from front to back. It was more spacious and more economical. Clearly recognizable were the shield bumpers, the rear lights and the black shield above them. The new 5 had a larger interior because it was a bit longer and wider, but also because the engine was now fitted crossways, as in the Renault 9 and the Renault 11. This GT Turbo car rolled off the conveyor belt in late summer of 1986, on 25-09-1986 to be precise. It’s such a feast for the eyes. As far as we are concerned the most accurate version, the red exterior in combination with the alloy sports rims and the immaculate interior make this 5 GT Turbo a joy for all enthusiasts. Not to mention the Renault’s condition, whether you look at the car from below, from above or from the side, it really is in factory condition. Although restored, everything is original and in original condition. A enthusiast has worked on it and you can really tell. Are you also a Renault enthusiast? Then you must come and see this beauty. The car can be viewed in Sassenheim, the Netherlands.
