Republic of Zaire – Complete High Denomination Series (1993–1994) A complete five-note set issued by the Banque du Zaïre during the country’s final years before becoming the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Produced during a period of rapid inflation, these higher denominations feature President Mobutu Sese Seko, together with striking geometric security designs and illustrations of national landmarks, engineering projects and traditional culture on the reverses. This series complements the earlier 1993 emergency issues and represents one of the final banknote designs issued under the name Zaire before the political changes of 1997.
