This work is included in the catalogue raisonné of Reynolds' paintings referred to above, where the authors state that this work is 'alleged to be a copy after a head of a putto in one of the pendentives of the cupola in S. Giovanni Evangelista, Parma'. Reynolds is known to have been in Parma in July 1752. We are grateful to Martin Postle for his assistance in identifying this work and the catalogue entry relating to it.
