Gusmaroli's works focus on themes such as travel and are visually realized through compositions of vortices with small boats, composing imaginary landscapes on red, white, blue or black monochromes. The paper boats become, in this way, infinitely multiplied metaphors of the entirely human and unstoppable desire to explore, to wander, and of the artist's desire to go beyond the two-dimensionality of the canvas and invade reality. Gusmaroli chooses as his language the poetics of lightness, of the minimal gesture: the boat that sails the seas is made of paper, according to the ancient tradition of origami.
