A bust of Christ by Richard Aurili (1834-1914) . He was an Italian sculptor who worked in Belgium until 1890. He then moved to Paris, where his works were exhibited at the Salon Des Artistes Francais. Realistic and beautifully sculpted expression. The sculpture has a plaster core on which a layer of red copper (electroplating) is applied. Stunning brown patina. Good condition, but with some small copper spots visible to green oxidation with decay of the material. Please take a good look at the photos. Signed R. Aurili.
