Sublime, refined oil paintings on copper, in "Pendant", of the English school, from the circle of the famous artist Richard Wilson, inherited and purchased towards the end of the 1950s at an antique art gallery, as can be seen from the two labels on the back of the same works of art. The two paintings are both signed and are inserted in two and equal splendid frames made of brass/copper/bronze and with still the rounded glass (only one glass) . Richard Wilson painted and worked in Italy between 1750 and 1757 flanked at the time by great names and illustrious artists such as the famous Francesco Zuccarelli and others, between the lines of the writing below it is easy to know the history and life of this great Master and Landscape Painter Richard Wilson, who managed to conquer the art market of art, internationally. P. S. the last seven images present and inserted here are very useful to determine some comparisons and get to know the artist Richard Wilson better, regarding the Pendant of the two works presented here for sale at Catawiki auction. The two works are still in good condition, so they have never been subjected to any kind of restoration, they have only been professionally cleaned in the past. The measurements of the two paintings, since they are a pendant, as well as for the two frames, which are the same, are as follows: only oval paintings on copper cm. 18x13 with the frames cm. 20. 5x15. 5.

Richard Wilson (Montgomeryshire, 1 August 1714 – Denbighshire, 15 May 1782) was a Welsh painter and one of the founding members of the Royal Academy in 1768.
Wilson has been described as the most meritorious painter Wales has ever produced and the first to appreciate the aesthetic possibilities of his country. Wilson is considered the father of landscape painting in Britain.
Wilson was born in Penegoes (Montgomeryshire, Wales) , the son of a cleric belonging to an ancient and respected family. First cousin of Charles Pratt, 1st Earl Camden.
In 1729 he moved to London where he began working as a portrait painter under the guidance of an unknown artist: Thomas Wright.
FROM 1750 TO 1757 HE WENT TO "ITALY" AND "VENICE", ON THE ADVICE OF "FRANCESCO ZUCCARELLI", HE EMBRACED "LANDSCAPE PAINTING"; IN "ROME" HE WAS THEN INFLUENCED BY CLAUDE LORRAIN AND THE GROUP OF LANDSCAPE ARTISTS FROM OVER THE COUNTRIES WORKING IN THE CITY.
PAINTING IN ITALY and from 1757 in England, HE WAS THE FIRST BRITISH PAINTER TO DEDICATE HIMSELF MAINLY TO PANORAMAS. HIS LANDSCAPES INFLUENCED CONSTABLE AND TURNER. Wilson died at Colomendy, Denbighshire, and was buried in the churchyard of the Church of the Virgin Mary, Mold, Flintshire.
